Marketing Your Way Through The Crisis

I recently watched a very interesting video chat between three leading marketers and content producers @MRSCOTEDDY, @CHISTINALLDAY and @CEEBZ_GERARD. They basically echoed my thoughts on what businesses should be doing at the moment so they are in the strongest position when we exit the current crisis.

The biggest thing right now for any business that has an online presence is to be creating NEW content. Because of the situation we find ourselves in in terms of the lockdown, everyone is online, or certainly spending much more time online. So you should be looking to leverage this with more content.

It is the ideal way to build your brand across the many different online platforms.

As a digital marketer I have seen many clients freeze activity, even though they potentially have the biggest online audiences they are ever likely to get. Of course we understand that certain elements of the business can not operate as before, and that many of them are nervous about the future, but branding and even enquiries can still be generated.

Look at content that will be available long after the lockdown has been lifted:

  • Website content
  • BLOG articles
  • Video
  • Podcasts
  • Social Media Content

Don’t forget social media is still there and highly active at the moment. Why as a business would you not be in front of those people right now?

  • Create stories to show how your business has adapted or is coping with the current situation.
  • Upload photos of you working from home
  • Upload a short video explaining what you managed to achieve during the day

It is a great time to ‘humanise’ your brand and connect with new and existing audiences. What used to go on ‘behind the scenes’ is now really the front-end of your business and it will help you expand your brand and even gain loyalty.

As @MRSCOTEDDY said in the aforementioned VLOG “people will remember what you did as a business in times of crisis”.
